OK...lol...laugh if you all feel the need to - but back when I painted my truck, I too wanted an old paint lower gloss kinda finish. And I wanted to do it cheap and a bit easier than guys on here that have done the Rustoleum roller paint jobs - but still wanted it to look good and last. So after looking around at various paints, I grabbed a paint gun at Harbor freight, a gallon of Rustoleum's best primer, a gallon of their blue, a gallon of their white, and a gallon of their silver.
BTW....Rustoleum's silver is a semi-gloss, so mixing it with two other high gloss paints gave the exact finish I wanted, so IMHO that mixture will work (2 parts high gloss to 1 part semi-gloss) for any plain color combination.
After doing all of my prep work, I used the best quality thinner the store where I bought my paint had to thin it while giving it a good coat of primer, and then I mixed equal parts of blue, silver, and white, strained it well, and spent the next 3 days in the hot as hell sun painting, finish sanding, and buffing out my truck.
This is how it looked when I was done and still does today:

So there is another option for everyone. And I know...it aint a show quality high $$ paint job - but I still get compliments all the time on my truck. Plus the paint job is still holding up just fine - rain or shine. And trust me - where I live in Washington - my truck is driven daily and always parked outside in some pretty lousy weather.
