hello all, i just bought a '79 luv, and while it is a great truck, there seems to be some alignment issues...it doesnt track straight..it doesnt pull to one side or the other, and it goes down the road smoothly, but a friend told me that when i am driving straight, the back end is out to the right a little bit....the haynes book says something about 'floating' and says the reason is that the front and rear 'pick-up points' are out of alignment.. ?????? any body know what the heck that is? or how to fix it?

Could have been damaged in a collision and repaired improperly or maybe rather simple. Check the rear spring packs for allinement on the axel mounting pads. The center of the spring pack has an allinement dowel that centers itself into a hole on the axel plate. Make sure it is not sheared off causing the spring pack to shift forward or back. Check both sides and you may find the problem.

so the truck is dog walking.

the rear is probably slid over just from normal years of wear and vibration.

and if you have bias plys its really going to make the problem seem worse.
