Well, I tried to sell the little blue beast, but nobody bit.
I soldered the hole/cracks in the radiator, put water in it, some gas, and it fired right up. Man it runs great.
So I ask my buddy if he wants to go offroading (I don't tip toe when I offroad). He says sure and we go for a 1 mile jaunt through the desert.
The truck does great, except that I ran over some bushes and my fuel pump electric line popped off. So I put it back on, and accidentally flooded it. I walk back home and get a portable battery thing and try several times to get it to start up. It's getting fuel just fine. But it has no spark.
The darn points again, and they are brand new! So I clean them, and still, no luck.
A few years back, I took some heavy gauge wire and wired it directly to the fuse box, because I had a short there that would give me intermittent ignition. Man, I spent so much time, I had so many problems, I was aggravated! The truck ran perfectly, but every once in a while it really took a lot of effort to get it to start, and sometimes it refused to run at all!
I had a feeling... Jump the + from the battery to the + of the coil and try it.
Sure enough. Fired *right* up.
Because my truck is going to be off road use only, I put a toggle switch in for the ignition. I can remove the key and turn it off, and the motor will still run. But... It starts up and runs great every time now. I think my ignition switch was going bad on me on and off for years. The truck purrs. It runs so good. With the Weber on it it is a night and day difference. It's daily driver reliable again, now.
Also, I know it is my ignition switch because all the fuses are good, and all the wiring hookups are good. With my key in the "run" position, if I turn my toggle switch off, the truck will die.
