When I first got my Luv, it sat for a year. It had some rust and dirt in the tank. I took it to a shop that works on radiators and gas tanks. They boiled out the inside of the tank and then I put a sealer on the inside of the tank. Providing a tank is not too rusted, with this procedure, it will last a long time. =)

all you need to fix you tank is...

1 cement mixer.
1 bottle of eastwood tank sealer
1 length of chain, about 3 feet long.
various nuts and bolts to tighten threw the links of the chain.

attach nuts and bolts to chain, I like to use lock nuts to prevent coming off in tank. drop length of chain into tank, (sending unit removed) and plug hole with some rags, bags, tape etc etc....

figure out a way to attach the tank to the front of the cement mixer ( a roll or 2 of duct tape works great) . fill the gas tank with a little dish soap and water.

turn on the mixer and let the tank rotate with the chain and bolts for a few hours. should be clean after that, if not... continue to spin.

after done, leave tank open and in the sun to dry out. the tank must be COMPLETELY dry before sealer can be used. from there follow sealer instructions.

My tank's rusty too... maybe I'll get a couple pounds of chain and nuts and bolts, and then put it all in the back of my other pickup and go 4 wheelin or something. Or hell, just drive down the freeway here in LA, as bad as they are.
