there was an article in the back of popular hotrodding about 6 months ago on what you needed to install one. the 4th gen camaros/firebirds had the 3800 v-6/5 spd option in them. the 3800 is a smoother running, roller can engine with 210 hp.

My son had one of those V6-5sp Camaros. It was OK... Not a 350 T.P. but still nice.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

The T-5 fits when you use the BOP bell housing and flywheels are plenty available (can you say E Bay).

Also you can use the Monza bell housing (cable clutch) with an adapter plate or use a good hyd. setup if you prefer (mine is a wilwood master/slave pull type)

be smart about clutch selection, buick V6s have a bit of a thrust bearing problem when high pressures are applied. If you want to race or push serious perfromance from a manual V6 I can help you with the thrust bearing mods.

This is ass-u-ming that you are going with the older buick V6. If you are going to use the later 3800 series 2 engine then you need all of the series 2 parts, and use an S10 4cyl or V6 bell.

The point you have to remember on a buick when built, they make more torque than a small block chevy does... so dont waste yor time with the S10 4cyl or V6 T5 that your thinking of, either step up to a T56 of a V8 T5 with the S10 Mods.

A good friend of mine who has his own auto repair shop has a T-5 out of a Astro van in his 67 Old's with a 455 and it's living quite well but he dose not drag race it either.

Keep in mind that some people can tear up a anvil with a feather and others can run stuff that is not supposed to work so it pays to think about what your intended purpose is and build accordingly and try to over build if feasible.

the cases are all basicly the same, so I imagine he has the V8 guts inside, since it would have to be taken apart to remove the stupid Astro van shifter housing to fit his Olds.

But I totally agree, that you should try to build bigger and better than your actual goal, that way if you turn it down a notch or 2 the assembly will be reliable for a long time.

Still has the V-6 guts but changed the tail housing but i have never checked to see if the van trans may have V-8 gears anyway.
