'92 with a 2.6 engine has a MUA trans with hydraulic clutch. It will fit a LUV engine, but an easier route is to find a truck with a 2.3 engine, these had the cable clutch MSG trans like the LUV's except with a 5th gear. If you are talking swapping the rear end 3rd members anything new enough to have anti-lock brakes won't fit in an older-style LUV housing.

81/87 isuzu puppys are 4.11s in 4x4s
the only other gears that fit the puppys axils are the 4.55s from a 84/86 trooper thats it no more at all :esad

the 88/95 4x4 trucks are 4.11 4.55 or mabe some other odd gears like 4.77s

my0.01C

id stay away from a 88/95
yes it can be done, but a very long exstenseve job

I have a question relating to this. I keep seeing people say it's easier to get the cable clutch version, but my 76 has a hydro clutch on it stock. Wouldn't that make the hydro tranny swap the choice I want to make?

well im running 2wheel drive. and I would like to have the whole rear end swap. I was woundering if the 92 has the 3.73 gears and if it is a stright bolt end like the older ones. and no i dont want the abs. and I know its a hydro clutch, thats fine with me, my 75 has the hydro clutch. hey 240_jon yes it would make the swap easier. I think its easier to fined and less work to do a cable clutch. the hydro takes more work and more parts to mess with. but I done care, as long as it works, if not then I'll fined a way to make it work. so its a yes on the 1992 pickup?

the 88/95 trucks (not pup) are 4.11 in a 4x2 (as far as i know) not 100%

the 81/87 pups are 3.73 with 5 speed, or 3.42 with the MPG+ packege (there a 4 speed) unless its CA speck pup then its a 5 speed to  go figuer...............................

only the auto trans puppys 81/87 had a 4.11 rear

FYI: The 89 2wd p'up 5spd I bought from a 2.3 truck has a different input shaft and will not go into a stock LUV clutch. I have not found a suitable replacement clutch disc yet and hope somebody out there knows what I can use. I think the 2.3 clutch is a larger diameter and is a no go.

The 2.3 clutch is the same size and spline as the 79-80 4X4's.

i thought your truck was a 4x2?

and that all LUVs 79/82 had the same transes as the 81/87 pups

am i off base here :? :?:
i just dont want some one to go get a trans, and not have it work. (IE giving false info)
