Not intested in who just massaged the firewall a little bit with a hammer or made a pocket for the hei . . . im talkin carving the firewall and putting the engine in your lap !!! I have always heard the old timers say you want number one plug to line up with the centerline of the front axle/wheel. . . lookin at mine with the front clip off. . . it was more like number 5 (3rd one back on the driversside) centered up with the axle line. . .this is with the swap engine and trans mounts . . .

So what do you drag racers got for pics of a firewall box ?? Yours or one you have seen that looks good ??? What headers ?? Bring on the goods !!!

Also look for my spare parts to be forsale !!!

Here is what i got done last night

I would not say this site is dead. Most LUV owners do not set back their engines. That might be why all 600 members may have not posted on your thread.

I put a 6" dog house in my truck (no pic's as of now) but i did it cause i have a 455 Buick in it and i set it back so the fan is in the same spot as it was when i had the 283 short water pump motor in it.

Also my exhaust port on the right side heat is just short of going be hind the fire wall.

From your pic's your engine is back into the firewall far enough that you are going to have problems with you exhaust system, also it looks like you need to lower the engine trans combo.

Yeah i agree with luvr, Yours is the 1st ive seen that you set the block back.. Very rarely ive seen the firwall cut out like that. Its not really needed.

i havent figured out where exactly the height of the engine and trans . . . i will have to do that before i mount . . .im still trying to decide on side moutnts and tailshaft or front and midplate and tailshaft mount . .. im workin on the front to back placing before the height . . but i will say that i can take a peice of 3/8 all thread and slide it pretty much straight thru the block motor mount on there . . so its pretty close to the height that the side mounts are . . . but we will see . . . thanks for any pointers thought it may need to go down . . .i will have to get the oil pan im using and headers before i finalize the height !! And i think the tailshaft angle is the most important for driveline angle and u joint angle . . .

The drive line angle is not as important as the carb setting flat. Having the pan and headers will give you a better idea of where you need to be.Also keep in mind what you need to do if you should have to pull the trans.

A front motor plate and trans mount would work.

Not a kit, I just bought flanges, collectors, and a bunch of u-bends. I'm gonna build a set that dumps out of the bottom of the front fenders. I'll post pics when I do
