I see on my TH-350 transmission that there is a little box that the original cable used to hook up to... My question is, how do I hook up my speedometer cable to it? I'm guessing that the box doesn't go and I have to buy a cable made for a TH-350 transmission.... is this correct?

I also have a T 350 and I simply took the stock speedo cable out of my 78 Luv to a speedometer shop where they changed the transmission end to match the gear box coming out of the transmission. Hopefully yours will be long enough to do this, you only have to have about 4" left in your cable to do this. Otherwise you will have to have a new cable made by a speedo shop, one with a stock Luv speedo end and the other end made to hook up to the T 350.
The "little box" you mentioned has small gears inside of it, these can be changed by a competent speedo shop so your speedo will be accurate.
Don't know where you live, but here in So Ca, I have shopped around for prices because some speedo shops want $75-80 and other will make a cable for $25!!!
If you don't have any luck finding a speedo shop to help you, get in touch with me and I can have one made and sent to you?
good luck,

Yes, the speedo cable drives the speedo head-both the speed needle and the odometer. Just for interest, since the first gear driven speedo, back in Model A days, 1,000 rpms of the cable makes the speedo read 60 MPH, no matter what car! Excluding electrically driven or computer driven speedos. Years ago I had a special cable made that connected to my 29 Roadster stock speedo and to a Ford top loader 4 speed tranny, and the speedo worked!!! Surprized the h.. out of me!This is what the little box is for, the tech uses a formula to change the tiny gears inside of it so the cable coming from the trans will turn 1,000 rpms at 60 mph.
