I bought mine in the spring of 77. Nisan was pushing ''Drive a Datsun and then decide.'' I did. I forget what I didn't like about it. I also read a comparison test in a magazine. The LUV wasn't # 1 in anything, but second best in almost everything. Been a good little truck.

My daughter hated it. I told her not everybody gets to learn to drive in what they rode home from the hospital when they were born. She asked why she had to drive it and not the 92 Grand Am with the HO Quad 4 and the 5 speed. While I was trying to come up with a good answer, her older brother said ''It's less likel to jump into the next county when you let the clutch out.'' Two years ago she declined my offer to let her use it to bring our new grandson home.

As much as my son loved the Grand Am, he like to drive the LUV at times too. He liked the very direct positive shift linkage in the 4 speed. He learned to drive in it too. At one point he was backsliding, couldn't seem to shift without grinding the gears. I hadn't driven it in about a week. Finally when he couldn't even start it without it jumping ahead, I realized the hydraulic clutch died again. I decided dad had better take over and managed to get us home.

Sorry I'm to young to be the original owner and I have never bought a new car from a dealer.

It does have a license plate so technically it is a street truck, that sets off car alarms and makes kids cry. lol

If P'ups count, I'm an original owner. Bought mine in September of '83 after driving the diesel VW pickup (AKA "caddy"), and the Mazda B2000 diesel.
