I wonder if anyone has had this happen? I parked 1980 4x4 in its usual spot (nose high to help keep water out of interior) for 2 days. When I started it the tranny is locked. Truck won't move.engine dies when clutch is engaged. Shift lever feels ok and transfer also seems ok. If tranny is put in neutral clutch can be released and engine runs. Truck is free to roll in neutral.
I must have a tranny curse. Luv is locked up. Mazda mpv has a shift solenoid bad, and chevy diesel had lunch on a th400.
I do have a 80 luv 4x4 parts truck but not able to change it out right now.

Did you try the 4X4 hi and low? Just wondering if it's the t case area or the trans. area. I have never heard of this problem before. If it were an auto trans. I would guess the park pin broke, but....

What happens if while it's rolling (very slowly that is) if you put it in gear and let the clutch out? Maybe you could support the truck on jack stands with all four tires clear of the ground and disconnect the drive shafts from the differentials and try to turn them to see if either or both will turn? I've never had that problem but I'm just trying to think of what I would do. Good luck.
