Have the main leaf arch reversed so that the spring comes off of the top of the eyes instead of the bottom. Then with a 2" block you'll be close.

On mine, I moved the springs below the axle instead of on top. I used 2" lowering blocks. Then I took the thick "overload" spring that is normally on the bottom of the spring pack, and moved it to the top of the spring pack. That spring is close to 1" thick by itself. If you leave it on the bottom of the pack, it doesn't really serve much purpose once the springs are below the axle. With it on the top of the spring pack, it gave me the additional ~1" drop, plus it made the whole spring pack flatten out a little, which added even more drop. With my torsion bars all the way down, the truck sat pretty much level front to back by doing this. If I had to guess, then I would say that this setup gave me a total of probably 6" of drop in the back, at least. You get the 2" from the blocks, the 2-3" from the diameter of the axle, and then the 0.5 -1" from the extra spring. Plus alot of the arch comes out of the spring pack, so that drops you even more. It is really, really stiff, because moving that overload spring takes all the "springiness" out of the leafs. If you're mostly concerned with looks, it should be fine. BTW, this was on a 73 2wd.

Good luck, I hope this made sense.

you know, I was just thinking about what I wrote above, then went and dug up pictures of my LUV. It was about 8 years ago that I lowered the truck, and since I'm in the military, its been about 3 years since I've even seen the truck, its sitting in my parent's field, torn apart.

For some reason, I was thinking that the spring pack sat on top of the axle, and that I moved it to the bottom. I remembered cutting off the spring pack mount and re-welding it on the opposite side of the axle. Now I remember, that was in my 75 that I tuff trucked. On that one, I moved the spring pack on top of the axle tube to get extra lift.

So, on the one that I lowered, I did all of the above, EXCEPT move the spring pack below the axle, it was already like that stock. I did however use 2" lowering blocks and move the overload spring to the top of the pack. Doing that probably gave me 4-5" of drop. I had to look at my old pictures to remember exactly what I did.

Sorry for the mix up, its just been a long time since I've even laid eyes on the truck, let alone work on it. I plan on getting it in a few months when I transfer up to Washington.

Not to jack your post, but does anyone know whether or not, if i get coilovers in the front, can i just take the torsion bars out and not worry about them. Or would i still need them??

You can get lowering blocks and you don't have to flip the leaves, rondog has rear blocks and front torsion bars on his lt blue truck

I would think that if you converted to a coil spring setup, then you wouldn't need the torsion bars. The way they are designed is the torsion bar will twist and recoil, acting like a spring. If you had a different spring setup, then you would basically be doubleing your springs. Probably be overkill.

in front you can get a set of coil over shocks we just did a datsun and took out the torsion bars all the way out and for the rear you can leave the over load in take out the next spring in and i also took the over load out i have 3 springs in then get a set of air shocks for the rear so if you need to haul some stuff put a bit of air in and go mine has a 3 inch block me i got a small air tank with a small comp just so i can air up tires and what ever else i need to lol ok i hope we helped some there are so many ways to do it

i did it back in the 90s yes it was not a good ride it works good if you have hydros or bags but you can get a good low ride by pulling a leaf or two or getn them rearched
