Do you need to hold the door handle up when shutting the door for it to lock, or is this an Australian feature?

I agree!

Yes. Some older cars require that, I've seen a 69 Camaro, 70 Chevelle and 70 Cad that all needed that.

I don't lock my truck (no key to it ) but then i don't have anything in it anybody want either.

i always thought that was so cool just cause no cars are like that anymore. and when i told my friends to lock the door, they always thought my truck was broke :lol:
