i actually want to swap an LNF Image
into my LUV but my problem is that I have a 4x4 and want to keep it like that so i need some tranny with transfer case that will "bolt up".

but if i could just turbo the 1.8 in it and make some good power out of it then that would probably be easier.

I am actually in the process of doing this. been doing research on what i need. Right now just dont know if I want to keep it fuel injected or covert it to a carb set up with double webber doce side drafts. I would luv to put the 2.0 its a realy good 4cly. but im going to use 2.2 ecotec. And think how to put a trubo in the luv after I got the engine in there. it will fit i got the measurement and so for its a go. the motor mounts is the tricky one. ya theres adapter plates and bell housings to fit 200r4 and chevy T5 5speed manuel trany. and I will more likely change the rearend too with a s-10. GM performance parts sell exhaust header flange so you can make your own headers, but ya thats as far as I have gotten. just money is the issue as usual. and if I decide to bag the truck well more thinking and measurments.

Here is a option: Not me saying this. Off the Opel forum

"I have been doing research on this, but the GM guys did all the work for us. you need to find a tranny from a GMC Canyon or the Chevy version (can't remember what chevy calls it). this is the same 5 speed in the Soltice/Sky/GT with the exception being it is a top loader whereas the version in the soltice and sky is a similar to the getrag 5 speed shift linkage. This will bolt up directly to any Ecotec 2.0 2.2 2.4 The 2.0 is the unit in the Cobalt SS 205 HP supercharged. 2.2 found in many cavaliers pontiacs oldsmobiles and the 2.4 is the unit in Solstice/Sky/GT. The tail shaft is the same spline as a TH350 so finding a drive shaft should be easy. "

http://www.mantapart.com/ makes transadapter, check out anyone to see if they are good to deal with... They seem to make a lot of stuff. I think the adapter in the Quad4 section

I jsut made this check it out, you can put(almost) any motor in your truck(space permitting/hence the almost) and use basically any transmission that you want with it..

-Dustin

P.s. In my opinion i think that if you put a tubro an about any 4cyl and put it in the LUV your going to see a night and day difference in the performance.

:edit: There is a 2.0l isuzu engine that is turbo and would be a direct bolt in to your trans and with minor work to your motor mounts, the 4ZC1; it is EFi and would require changing out the fuel system, and adding the ECm from the donor vehicle with the 4cyl. Also the 4ZC1 came in the first gen isuzu impulse(RWD format) :edit:

I think this is good news. I was once contemplating "Hey why can't I take a motor from an Aveo, Saturn, whatever that's normally for a front drive car, turn it sideways, and swap it into the LUV" I just couldn't figure out the trans issue. If a Chevy Colorado trans would bolt up to an Ecotec that would be a really good stock replacement for the G180 I think because it would take up about the same amount of room, not weigh much more, but would be modern and fuel injection and everything else. This "swap" of course would require very deep pockets to buy new parts (e.g. Colorado trans and a crate Ecotec) but I suppose these parts would turn up in the junkyard soon.

But I think a G motor turbo is fast...how does 950 miles per hour sound....

If you check some of the Aussie Gemini sites, you will see many cool turbo setups for the G-series motors and if you ask, most of the folks on there will get back to you with the info you seek. They do some pretty sweet things using a blow-thru setup on these motors. Why re-invent it when these folks have done most of R & D for you.

if you wanna go as far as getting a more modern engine/trans, looking into junkyards is a good idea, but think about other stuff making EFI isnt as difficult as you might think, you can get standalone fuel/spark management systems for pretty cheap (megasquirt) and ALOT of the engine management software for them can be had off the net for FREE i think, in my opinion, that the hardest/most expensive aspect of putting another engine in any vehicle is the drivetrain(wich makes up about 80%) everything else is just the last 20% of the project that tends to take the most amount of time and is the most tedious i.e. fuel management, and all of the fun little bugs that come as part of any project.

ozluvtrucker I think it was suggested to me a turbo motor out of a late 80's impulse.turbo, rwd, and isuzu to boot! I've seen em on car-parts.com for $500 bucks or so.then go on isuzone.com and get their ideas on upgrades.
