If you start on page 1 and read the posts, it's pretty obvious...

Hello all. First This is my first day in this forum. I am on several others and banned from a couple more....

anyway, Im here because I was sent the link by a guy thats trying to do a conversion. I sent him an email after seeing his post on SSM about anyone making tube arms for the LUV that would use a different spindle. If I remember correctly he wanted to run a Toyota spindle.

Well, Im about to go to the local pick n pull tomorrow as I do most weekends to do some "wrecking yard research" as I call it. I usually buy at least one control arm or spindle and sometimes both. I will be looking into the types of arms these things have and Ill see what I can do to make these.

I currently make Toyota arms that use S-10 balljoints. Why? because the taper and hole sizes are the same and the S-10 balljoints in aftermarket form have much more travel. The upper especially.

I can make a set of tube arms that fit the LUV chassis and use pretty much whatever spindle you want. Id prefer a Toyota or S-10 spindle. All I need to get the ball rolling is ONE stock upper and ONE stock lower.

I dont have to cut them up or anything I just use them for measurement and dimensions purposes. So Ill be looking for these pieces tomorrow. If I cant fond any I will have to see if he or someone else will send one. I would need the set over a weekend. Thats about all the time I need to get the jig made.

The real question for me? Is there a market for these? Id have to be able to sell about 3 sets to break even on making a jig and all the research needed.

thanks and if theres some advertising rules that Im close to breaking please let me know. thanks!

I am the guy that sent him the link. I still do not trust the bracket aspect so I am looking into getting whole new control arms made to accept a set of drop spindles. i am willing to help out with the tread since the first set will most likely be mine once we decide exactly what we are doing. I will find the other thread and add info there if needed.

i dont see what the big deal is on these plates.

i had 10 of them made of 3/8s plate for 55 dollars at the local steel yard. took the guy 30 minutes on the plasma table to cut them.

i seriously doubt that the factory CAST balljoint is stronger than a STEEL 1/4, 3/8, or 7/16 piece of plate. considering that most of us weigh under 3000lbs i really dont know how it could be a problem. I launch on mine... no problems yet.

I have a set on the way. I posted on the other thread I started.

I have made several start up sets like this. Its as simple as making the jig and then the arms.

Tha bushing placement and caster/camber are all the same as stock. the balljoint angles are more of a flat angle to accomodate a drop spindle or bagged truck but work well with stock height as well.

So will these work with coil over springs also or just the torsion bar setup. I looked at your website and the ones you built for others. Thye look nice. I assume they are strong.
How long to make a set of Luv ones.

Ill make the ones for bags or coil overs first then see if theres a market for torsion bar ones. There should not be much difference though.
