You're either dumping raw fuel, bad needle and seat or float level or the choke is staying closed too long. Readjust the choke to full open and see what you've got as to idle and driveability. Choke could be as simple as the choke pull of unit is bad if it has one.

Readjusting the choke didn't do any thing the points are fine I blew air through the return fuel line cux I thought that was cloged I cleaned the carb the keys are open the float needle and seat are fine blew out the in fuel line fuel pump works the only thing that's weird is the air and fuel mixture screw doesn't do any thing when you turn them all the way in or all the way out but not it runs doesn't pop but only runs at really high rpm and shakes a lot a lot like the. Whole truck . It feels like a miss but checked it and all cylinders are firing and wires and cap are on corect so I'm stumped and am getting veery frustrated so any help would be great thanks

You might try checking the fuel pump, even though its pumping or sounds like it, it may not be working properly and getting you the fuel you need.

Not that i can think of, if you checked it and there was a full stream of gas then thats good. The only other thing i can think of is checking your spark plugs and wires which you said you did, and i cant remember if you check to see if the distributor is working correctly or not, could be electrical wires or something.

You need a fuel pressure gauge. Mine was a steady stream of fuel but the fuel pressure didn't even register on the gauge, and my truck was running terribly. Now that I put a new fuel pump in it, its up to 4 psi and the truck runs like a top.

So I put in a pressure guadge on the fuel line and said 2.5 and I guess its supposed to be 4 so I bought a new fuel pump and its still the same nouthing has changed I'm ready 2 get rid of it I just got a permanent job with the school district and can't be getting up in the morning and my truck not start so if no one else has any ideas its bye bye unfortunately . But how much do ya think its worth the engine is rebuilt ran great a week ago body is straight tranny is fine tires are good after market rims and no dash just painted where the dash is supposed 2 be . Thanks all

ok, an up date. i got the poping and "not" idleing prob down, it was a massive vacuum leak in a place i could have not seen but any ways , today i replaced the vacuum line and it ran great but i tried to turn it off and i took the key out of the ignition and it stays running! it has a short some where so i disconnected the starter, wiper motor, clutch switch, horn, choke, every white plug in the cab and under the hood, the tail lights, head lights, voltage reg, the 3 sillanoids under the plate on the passenger side, under the hood, ignition switch, disconnected the oil sensor, temp sensor, distributor and alternator

when i turn off the key (when its running) and take it out it stays running. if i have no key in the igniton and i push the clutch in it cranks over, when i turn the key to the on position (not in start) it cranks up and idles good and runs great but if i take the silonoid on the right side under the plate on the passenger side it shuts off , it burned up a wire and i dont know what it is. i will have to post alot of pics but after the turning over with no key and burned up the wire, theres a wire on the alt that i put on as a ground when i rebuilt it and it ran great for the two months that i drove it but now it arcs out and i know thats now where it goes so what is the extra wire thats by the alt and what the hell is my problem sorry if this dont make any sense but im frustrated and dont know where to go from here. If you can help me at all or have any suggestions, PLEASE let me know.
