The red line comes from the fuel tank vapor separtor that is mounted in the front left cornor of the bed. It goes to a check and relief valve on the passenger side of the firewall. From there, 2 hoses come out and 1 goes to the air cleaner and 1 to the oil pan. Basically the valve allows any vented fuel vapor to be drawn into the air cleaner and also allows any air going into the fuel tank to be filtered. The same goes for the second line to the oil pan. Most important is in case of a back fire it acts as a check valve so your fuel tank and oil pan dont go "KABOOOOM". There is a person here that swears this is not a correct set-up, sooner or later he is in for problems.

The check valve opens at 1.0-1.4 in. HG
The relief valve opens at .2-06 in. HG

I wouldn't plug it off. The oil pan needs to vent, whether it be to the atmosphere or to the check valve.

Very timely post. I'm in the middle of a weber install and wondered about that vent line too. Just let the hose breath on its own(jeez-where to point it??!) OR, could I just utilize the capped EGR port on the carb for this?
Thanks,

Jimbo

I am working on a stock air cleaner delete today, what I plan to do is take the line that goes to the air cleaner now and install a miniature breather onto it so that it can still vent to atmosphere, but so I won't have to plug it into my replacement air cleaner. All other lines will stay the same. Will put the breather right on the check valve fitting. It is a unit that I saw at Pep Boys, I think from Spectre, but I can't find it on their website. It's smaller than all the other breathers though I think about 1.5" in diameter, at my Pep Boys it was near all the cold air intake parts rather than near the chrome valve covers.

Thanks, and what a cool idea. I'll see if I can find one, other wise will make do with a mod to the Weber supplied air cleaner. Any thoughts re: my other post about using the stock Hitichi phenolic spacer with the new 32-36 weber? Perhaps at the least, longer chanfered bolts?
Thanks again,
Jimbo
