Who are the So Cal Luvs? Where do they meet and when?
For the past 4.5 years my wife Kathy and I have been hosting a monthly car show at Riverside's oldest and original airport called FlaBob Airport. (1922) The airport is located in Rubidoux, just off Mission Blvd, at the Western edge of Riverside, CA
We put on the show every third Saturday from 9-12, all cars welcome. In fact at our last show which we just held on Feb 21, Best of Show was given to 1996 ISUZU pickup! It had a fabulous multicolor paint job, custom interior, bagged and was a true winner.
Because this is a yearly project, but held monthly, without fail, rain or shine, we have 16 trophies to present each show! By yearly show I mean we have yearly sponsors, these sponsors pay a yearly fee which covers 12 trophies, one per month and some 5,000 fliers that are distributed at other shows and events in So CA. There is no entry fee! We have a raffle, a 50/50, have trivia as well as other contests, I play DJ with lots and lots of oldie songs and in general we all just have a good time for 3 hours on a Saturday morning.
Our biggest show which is held in November in conjunction with "Veterans Days at FlaBobs" boasts 300+ cars!
The reason I mention this is to not only invite everyone to come and enjoy the show, but also to offer our services, DJ equipment-computerized sound system and other show items for any LUV show or event in SO CA FREE!!
BUT having a show in SO CA is really a most difficult operation because local ordinances require permits, a 1 million $ liability insurance policy and perhaps most importantly every club must be registered, insured and be owned by someone!!! Most clubs have been incorporated.
Parking lot shows are illegal!!! And the fines imposed on one are expensive, plus the shows are shut down immediately!
Other restrictions can sometimes require NO sound equipment, No open hoods, NO signs or EZ ups, No trophies, raffles or prizes, etc, etc....
So I guess if we are going to have a show or event it will have to be held on someones private property other than anywhere
else in So CA!!
