Couple of questions

I just purchased a 1976 Luv. Ive been tinkering around with it since the day i brought it home and big suprise, the wiring is a total cluster....witch i anticaped but not the calibur

Q#1: When i have the parking/head lights on only the left side blinker wont work witch means no night-time cruisin and that needs to be fixed ASAP.

Q#2: The Back-up lights dont work and ive been busy with all the other stuff i havent had the time to look in to it much. Could it be just a bad ground? because i looked and it seemed to be fine and i have no clue what the problem might be.

Q#3: The triggers for the dome light (on the fender by the inner door) obviously where crap so i pulled them out, and looked at the local junk yard, Nothing. I was pleased to here NAPA had the part but it wasnt the right one of course the connector on the switch they had was a male end, The one in the truck was a Female. Where could i find those?

I was sooo glad i found this website . THIS SITE ROCKS!

The dome lite switch you may have to change/adapt in another one.As for your lights first check the light sockets as you have a bad connection and the lights are seeking a ground. Check bulbs then the sockets for corrosion then check the wire connectors at the lights.

On these older trucks its corrosion that will be a problem for your electrical system so it just means that you have to carefully check the connections. You should also pull the fuses and clean the connections to so you don't have problems down the road.

Hint if you have an electrical supply store close by go and get a small stainless or brass wire brush and a round one if they have it to clean your connections. Also get a bottle of D-Ox and put that on you connections after cleaning and you will never have a corrosion problem again. This stuff is also the best you will find for you battery connectors

One of the best ways I've found to clean light sockets is to use a shotgun bore brush. You can get them in about any size for less than $2 at Wal-Mart. They're round and have bristles stiff enough to get the job done but not so hard as to cause damage to the socket. Make sure you use new ones for obvious reasons.

I cleaned the fuse ports and put all new fuses in but now im having more problems then i originaly had

whenever i pull the switch to check if it was working the light fuse blows as soon as the parking lights would come on

i replaced the switch so it wasnt that

do you think it could just be a direct short on one of the grounds?
:?
