I have chance to get an orginal '66 Impala Grille shell and it just happens that the grill is the right shape but just a little wide on the sides. Would it a bad thing if I cut it up to fit a LUV? I just feel really bad about hacking up an orginal grille like that but it looks like it would work and look really nice, any thoughts?

It's your truck. If you like it, go for it. If it's ugly, we'll let you know though...

Remakes are available at the restore parts place for Chevys, I would guess. So it's not like your cutting up a LUV grille that's not being remade anywhere.

I found an early 80's model S-10 grill and it fits right in the single headlight Luvs ( later grill style ) it doesn't look exactly right, and it's a tight fit, but not too bad. Just a suggestion. That's what's in my Luv for now till I finish building my grill.

Yes here is an old picture. I'm keep meaning to take new ones but I'm always busy. Since my headlight bezel thingys have been painted black at some point, I'm going to paint them, the grill, the bumper, & the body all the same color. ( International harvestor red).

You mean a grille like this?

Image Image

That might look pretty nice....if you cut it just right and it fits OK.

I'd say go for it.

Just remember the golden rule of customizing:

Measure at least 3 times before you cut it once. (That one has cost me a few bucks for forgetting it....lol)

If the OEM grille is worth a lot more than the repro, I'd sell the new one, buy a repro and put some money in your pocket.
