Hey guys, I've been posting mostly in my 'oh crap my truck ain't running' themed topic here:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18688Last night I went out and bought a '72 Luv, all one color mind you, with a few issues, but it runs. It was stupid because I really need a driving car and this thing has major issues once you get into 3rd and 4th, but I liked it a lot......... stupid luvs, they are just so darn cute.
So the guy was putting it together for racing at a local track, so the engine and transmission are the strongest he could find (later year 1.8 Izuzu and stock transmission, no idea if they came together). Basically I put a voltage regulator on it and a battery and drove it away. The clutch is pretty funky, gotta let it ALL the way out before it does anything. Everything feels sturdy though, even the doors. And there's no rust in the usual places, just a quarter-shaped hole someone must have punched through the floor. Dash is actually pretty nice for a luv.
I didn't get it home because I couldn't get the thing over 35 and it was really giving me trouble, so I'm going back to where I parked it today to drain the transmission, put some 5w30 in there (that's right, isn't it?). And put oil in the engine, and brake fluid. And I'm going to try and hook up the fuse box right... It's currently just hanging with half the wires attached. To get both headlights last night I had to turn on the high beams and then unplug the only one that was working. If I didn't have the high beams on then I only had one headlight. Basically, the wiring is a mess, but it's a centralized mess. I don't know what year the engine is, I wish I did, because that would really help me find the fuse box wiring, it's not the 72 fuse box. Only half the instrument panel lights up and only half the ignition is hooked up (it only starts and runs, you can't turn it off.) There's no muffler, and the wheels are not held on by the proper amount of lugs, can't give you the exact amount because it's different on every wheel

Well... There she is, I'd love any suggestions or comments.
Thanks,
Caleb
