I would ask in the diesel forum here. I am sure it should be easy.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

It's easy. I hot wired mine. Look at the wiring diagram on this site for the series truck you're checking out. acc, hot, and a couple others need to touch all at once. don't forget to push in the clutch when you try it. the diagram pretty much is self explanatory

Jam a big flat blade screwdriver in the keyhole and twist

I agree with the screwdriver idea.

Hotwiring a luv with the key in the regular place is not hard. That, on the other hand, might be tricky.

the battery is currently in my 76 luv and it runs and is fine so its not the battery. and an update for all the people who might need to hotwire in the future... after destroying the switch with the screw driver and it not working real great and breaking my screwdriver in the process i took the shroud off and started looking at everything... there are two little screws that hold the tumbler on... i didnt know this on the opposite side and if you unscrew them as i found out the whole tumbler comes off and you can do what every you want with no breaking things! the things you learn when you pay attention... well off to the diesel forum to trouble shoot this problem
