last friday i was driving down the road and all of a sudden my engine started sputtering and just died. no matter what i did it would start but just I could only get it to run for about 10 secs at the most. i opened the hood and also discovered that my altarnater belt had broken i put in a new fuel pump relay. still would not run until i used a jumper wire from fuel pump wire to battery. I figured i would put a new fan belt on and just get it home. after i put the fan belt on i thought that it was more than just a conincedence that both of my problems happened at the same time i took the jumper wire off and hooked the fuel relay back up and lo and behold it ran like a summer day. Was the broken belt the cause for the fuel problem?

Once the engine is running and the alternator starts charging, it closes a relay inside the voltage regulator, which then sends power to the fuel pump relay ( which is under the cover on on the passenger side fender), this then powers the fuel pump. If engine stops fuel pump stops.
BTW all this is mandated for safety in case of an accident.

The above was posted by EGG on another thread I was following because of previous problems of my own. I can't get my computer to post a "quote" from one thread to another. Probably an "ID10t" error on my part. Anyway this was great info that spelled it out for me. Turned out I had another problem but it's still good to know.
