Just when everything was going good. Then the cold weather came.

My truck started to miss, mostly at above 55. Then my GEN light came on when I started at lunch, run for 5 second die. . Took the alt to be tested. Was bad and put a new one in. Truck ran, but not good. Truck missing worse than ever after putting alt back in. Replaced plugs, points, condensor, cap, rotor. Ran really good, then turned off and restarted, same missing bad idle problem. Took the hose off to dist vacuum advance. Runs good. I have a new weber, so not carb related. So now it idles and runs good. Now the problem is my gen light is slighlty on, gets brighter as speed increases, along with headlights, and dash lights. Oh, i put a new voltage regulator in about 3 months ago.

Thought I would ask before I dump a bunch of money into parts I don't need replaced.

Well, the running for five seconds and then dying is the safety cutoff on your fuel pump. When the alternator isn't running, the fuel pump guesses the engine isn't, and it shuts off. It's to keep it from pumping you full of gas if you get in an accident... Explosion prevention?
If it's possible, I'd have your regulator tested... the changing brightness makes me think that, and the old alternator could've killed it.
GoodLuck!

Well I have the ignition working pretty good now. I still have a light GEN light that increases in intensity about 50%, but not solid. I tried a new regulator and it was worse and cut the fuel off.. Put the old one back in. The light gets brighter as speed/rpms increase and/or I turn the heater fan on high. But seems to run ok other than this nuisance.
