I was just wondering if my 1978 motor, with AT, be a easy swap into my 1980 4x4, with MT? I'am asking because Oklahoma is suppose to get hit with a winter, ice storm starting monday and lasting till the end of the week. I need to get to work and I live at the bottom of a hill in the country. I'm asking because I ran into a problem with my 1983 S-10 with MT, swapped in a motor from auto and it didnt bolt up correctly. something about the balancing of the motor with the pressure plate, internally balance with the auto or something like that. If the swap is possible it looks like it wouldn't take to long as long as I have all the new parts on the bench. I have a list of items to get while i'm swapping the motosr but I would like to hear what you all would get for the "might as well do that since it's out" items.

BTW, the 1980 motor starting issues I had, awhile back, crept back up and got worse. I'm swapping in a newer FI 4cyl with OD in the 1978 , so I have a GOOD motor to swap into the 1980 4x4. Again thank you

Should be a no brainer. The oil pan and spacer plate between the block and trans. that are on the 4X4, need to be used on the 4X4. So other than swaping those two parts it "should" be pretty easy.
