Im not to sure what wires are which that go to the regulator on mine becuase they are taped up. All I did here was cut off all the wires at the stock alt and wired it to the '69 camaro alternator.

awsome thanks for the pic that should give me a place to start, does your gas tank needle work with that set up , as well as the "gen" light going off?

Yes the generator light works as if was the stock setup still, for the fuel gauge Im not sure this would make a difference. Sounds like maybe the sending unit could be bad or the gauge itself.
