....well...second time i ran out of gas.....it just stopped running...
....i put gas in it....but it wouldnt turn over...i figured i flooded it...so i let it sit...i cleaned the spark plugs just in case...and checked to see if i am getting gas to the carb...i am.....runns now...but very bad...i press the gas pedel and it just shuts down.....it seems like the timing is off now?....it wont idle but for a minute or two...any ideas?...

......too many.....dots..... hard to....focus.....

Fuel pump or fuel filter. You are getting enough gas to idle but not enough to go when you step on the pedal. When you ran it out of gas it probably sucked up some extra crud off the bottom of the tank so it clogged things up.

lol man, the dots should go at the end of the sentence...
just to show an incomplete thought...

and how in the world did you run it out of gas 2x? I usually go close to two weeks between fillups!

on the fuel gauge not working...
you might be able to pull the sending unit out of the tank... maybe a wire got disconnected?
you can check the gauge by grounding (make sure the ground is absolutely perfect! run a wire from the (-) side of the battery if you havta!) out the wire going to the fuel tank...
if the gauge says full, it works. If the gauge doesn't do anything... well, you get the picture.

It's just a personal preference, but I'd rather pull the bed off the truck than spend the day upside down trying to wire in a new gauge...
