I dont know if you just have the kill switch turned off or what. But if you can tell me what got pulled, I can tell you what I think. Use a flathead screwdriver to unlock the wing window, and turn the window down. Use something to pull on the cable for the latch, I put the shaved kit in w/ about 8" of cable between the sel and the latch for this reason. Sorry I didnt get to downsize the jets, it rained the last few days I was there and I didnt have room in the garage. The back needs more weight in it for driving at higher speeds. I hope you enjoy the truck, maybe when I get back and get the belair going I will cruise up there to see how things are going. On my way to kuwait on tues, so this is my last post.

oh my god I almost got hurt today working on the truck.

yeah I was out working on the hot rod and I was trying to get my door poppers to work. so I had to mess with the battery cause of a kill switch I shut off inside the cab...... anyways I had the cables dangling and the + side hit on my brake line and sent sparks and smoke I got the hell out of that area and was heading to get some water or whatever. so I come back the damn smoke stopped and the battery post melted off!!!!! I was lucky not to get hurt mind you I wasn't wearing glasses Yikes!!!!! and! and! I even thought about wearing them before I started working on it. damn lucky my brake fluid didn't catch fire Thank God! that was bad enough. I basically put my tools away and had a beer didn't worry about it I'm not really mad just kind of glad didn't get hurt.

I don't know what all got messed up besides the battery and a brake line??? maybe the cables???? Yikes close call always trust your gut feeling and wear proper safety gear don't be lazy is my message.

Hey LuvProjects, I don't know what your schedule is like, but I'm usually off Mondays and Tuesdays. I sort of have Monday reserved for working on my truck. Maybe we should try to get together? I know I could use your help with this front sheetmetal. 10 years in the military sort of pounded in the safety thing for me, and although I'm no expert, I (usually) enjoy working on car electrics. We could sort of watch each other's back... :)

As the weather improves, you know I've got a big driveway to work in. So think it over, and get in touch if you want to try to do something like this.

Really glad nothing significant happened here. Take your time and if you need an extra set of hands, give me a holler...

yeah I usually am pretty good with ears and my eyes but I hardly wear gloves unless welding :P gloves are okay sometimes. I can't believe I didn't go grab them before messing with the battery I knew I should have phew!!!!!!

yeah I don't mind helping out and such. weekdays kinda suck and weekends are better. we aren't to close but it isn't a bad distance either so I'm down for it. maybe I could build you some frame work for a tilt front end as well that core support maybe a son of a gun to weld in place, but could be done.

ok .... so no progress and the cruise is about two months away a lot of work to be done 8O I want it looking decent for the cruise I may need a stepside fender for the right hand side it has some decent cracks in it or some advice if i decide to fix it.

stuff I need to do

new battery
fix front end tilt and be able to latch it or lock it.
fix shifter
tuning engine
get shocks
couple front tires and wheels
bracing the lambo door hinges
guages hooked up
exhaust work probably buy some turbo mufflers
if there is time do a rear tilt with fuel cell and a battery underneath
and at least get the truck primered or painted

I think if I get my friends help I can accomplish this task

I will be getting some pics of progress up soon

If you can afford it, I'd highly recommend a red top gel battery. They are much safer overall, and last a lot longer than the standard type.

The tires on my old truck are pretty decent, probably get you by. You could probably just swap them over until you decide what you want to do for wheels/tires.

I've had decent luck with the 'Red Ryder' shocks for Luv's on ebay. They usually run about $20/$25 a pair shipped. Just make sure you sit them upside down and then pump them several times before you install them.

I think Dustinicus just posted something on his 1 wire alternator conversion. He might have some tips on the VR and how to get all the gauges and such working. If I can help with the gauges, I'll try. What do you have for a harness in the truck now?

I know you've done body work. What about these fenders?...http://eugene.craigslist.org/pts/642328405.html

Does it have duals all the way back? Check this out in GP, just the mufflers are probably worth what he's asking. http://medford.craigslist.org/pts/628500790.html

Did you find/fix your exhaust leak? I now have a spare passenger ram's horn. It will need the bolt boss ground down in front for a good seal, but it was on my truck at one time. Check out my Shoestring post to see it. You can have it if you can use it...

I usually reserve Monday's for truck stuff, but I'm at a bit of a standstill on my engine (short on $$$). I'd still like to meet up with you, so maybe we can work something out next Sunday or Monday afternoon?

Keep the pics coming, you can do it! :D

Wow long time no post for me yeah well I almost sold the truck been going through some issues but its ok. I can't let my luv project go for the third time. This one is not too bad I mean heck at least she fires up and runs!

I am going to maybe take on a p/t job if I need extra funds
and going to get a summit racing account

and use some of my fab skills along with input from my dad he usually can simplify my ideas dang it! haha!

I made a post about a full fender tilt its gonna be an interesting task

its in my my stuff to do list

I have a big List O' Stuff to do
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-repairing fiberglass which I have pm ctman about
-fix original shifter or most likely buy a hurst
-re design tilt front end
-rear tilt
-removable x-member for 700R4
-coil over conversion
-brace lambo door hinge location
-possibly rebuild my other sbc short block from northernautoparts.com
-and also go through my 700r4 or find one and rebuild it
-possibly modify steering shaft for header clearance
-exhaust work done at a local shop
-plumbing of all lines
-firewall offset center section for clearance and distributor access (thinking about notching underneath cowl for access as well)
-wiring re-worked and clean up possible wiring harness kit
-some interior work
-paint job or primer at least

parts I am after
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-block hugger headers or full tube permitting clearance
-rebuild kits for the 350 and 700R4
-autoloc keyless entry system
-fuel cell
-new bfg tires
-MSD 6al
-new shifter most likely
-super turbo mufflers
-qa1 or sufficient coilovers to provide good ride and to remove torsion bars
-ignition switch
-brake and gas lines
-wiring harness kit possibly found for $150 universal 21 circuit
-

and a luv bumper with brackets somewhat good condition to where i can pound out some dents

(wouldn't mind finding parts and services reasonable prices if possible)

Thanks for taking the time to read

Oh I could use a lot of motivation!!!!

Thanks again fellas

ok back up I may re-think of some ideas

This is my note pad!

first off I have been thinking is it really necessary for the coilovers in front? I mean can the torsion bars be adjusted to ride better with a 350 cause its kinda squirley while going about 70mph barely uneven freeway road? I mean I can get coilovers just wondering if it would be possible to have a good ride out of torsion. I did buy shims in case I can adjust it and then align it.

I may end up getting a stock luv gas tank and make a nice square enclosure with a filler neck make it presentable? not a fuel cell but could look nice and function uhhh?

oh and in the mean time I may buy these mooneyes wheel disc screw down hubcaps to hide the difference of bolt pattern front and back.

I may have some 88' s10 spindles hubs calipers and rotors coming my way for reasonable price. :)

also the guy I bought the truck from has a th350 stage 2 w/lokar shifter he could sell me for reasonable price possibly may snag it up I hear 700r4 could be prone to breaking???
Only thing is that I would end up buying a driveshaft and a 9" which I can't seem to find around here with a good hubface to fit and all the blah blahs? and than end up doing a toyota front conversion possibly later on. Haha why not?

and on the exhaust I am going to buy a pair of decent used headers and use my stove paint and pretty them up and get a dual cutout kit w/ warranty and run a stock muffler behind that for being quiet.

I also plan using my powder coating gun kit I bought a while back works nice and find a used oven on the cheap or free!!! also use some por-15

I need to find 30' rolls of wire on the cheap side cause I am gonna go through and re use all the new relays and fuse block yada yada try to spend under $100

I found out a hinge design that will work on the full fender tilt with 3 pivot points really been racking my brain around this part. I will use gas shocks and will build frame work and most likely will stitch weld every 8 to 10 inches? and use some filler

going to also cutout the firewall with plasma than build a better doghouse also notch under the cowl to get access to distributor as well! inside the firewall will be framework for bracing up the lambo doorhinges.

new tires. or really good used ones?

at work we have a industrial sewing machine and was thinking about seeing if I could try my hand at upholestry. Could really use tips on that area

I also need to find new rubber moulding and for windows I am going to pull them all out when body work is done to paint it all and wondering if summit has some good prices on paint? I bought some from napa it turned out pretty ok metallic green everything ended up costing about 320 bucks to paint it not bad :|

well I hope some of you chime in or know places to save but not cut too many corners like my gas tank idea and possible keeping of torsion

Thanks Guy's

James

ok I ended up ordering the aerospace kit today... just have to pick out which spindle I have I was like huh? I thought they were all the same but papers will be in the mail either tomorrow or couple days. I would rather play it safe than have something fail on me.

So $719+ shipping ouch this is for the street rod style not drag race which is cheaper.

so I can't wait it will be neat
