Here is a site with a couple of hinge ideas http://www.e-bodyparts.com/Car-Hoods/Info.Pages/One-Piece-Front-Ends.htm

not a bad idea! would take some figuring of the hinges I don't know the math formula to figure that out. I just tried looking for the formula but I really don't know what it would be called or how to word it. I also found this picture

same principle as that design but clean and the gas strut connects to it as well for a more presentable design.

well I been looking at hinges all around seeing if i could modify or use them.

the slide than tilt I think will be a little easier but will end up costing more?

but I took a two day break from thinking about it but I will keep you updated

thanks for the find bama

well tonight I seperated the fenders that were welded to hood by frame work from previous owner and will need to weld the lower part of fender on slowly. but the inside of hoods factory reinforcement is partially cut out I do have a hood scoop but it does not come in contact or near that so I am wondering why???

anyway as soon as I get this all setup and tacked I will hopefully have my design ready to build.

I also found this site a guy pretty much saying the same thing as my thread

http://www.streetrodding.com/index.cfm/f/forums.getThread/id/5439

but yes I do need a camera I don't think I can borrow my dads but we will see

OK Progress Fellas

Good news !!! I can confirm the whole front end sliding foward first (close to 3") and then tilting I tacked the lower part of the fender back on and then re-used some of the old tilt parts and mocked up the tilt by tacking the fender ahead about three inches to the upright/hinge and cleared the tire but the only thing is the lowest part of the fender catches a little bit of the inside of firewall cause the metal on the lower part of fender is bent inward so..... maybe some notching of that and she will work.

I already have to work on the firewall anyway and bracing the lambo door hinges using a subframe.

So I am going back to the slide than tilt mechanism idea! haha

Hopefully next update I can show pictures need a camera

no updates yet! but this weekend I am working on my luv. at work we have a winter closure for about two weeks so I will be able to get some things done including working on the tilt.
I have ten sets of sliders for the tilt design in case if anyone from the site ask me after I build mine.

Sorry I don't have the original pics when I was building this Tilt front end, but I used 1/2 boxed tubing, and the hydraulics from a Convertable caddy to raise and lower the hood. I had a Limit switch that would allow the unit to work until the hood was released. check out the finished product. This was done back in 1987 when I lived in Charleston SC. This truck won 2nd place out of 400 trucks in the Myrtle Beach Madness truck show in 87. Those were the Days!

Backwoods cops hated me in Charleston...They just didn't understand customizing to level back then.
I have another luv truck project going now. Need to know who can cut a windshield for a chopped top. Not gonna chop it until I can find a decent glass cutter guru. i have an extra windshield.

ok now I am on to this for right now on my project. I decided not to use the sliders that I bought I did a lot of thinking yes they will work but they are susceptible to the debris from the roads and will wear out the ball bearings.

so the new plan involves solid rubber guide wheels ball bearing in a track that will all be able to bolt on to the frame and take some of the headaches away and I also have an idea to keep the whole setup from jumping up and down from dips in the road should turn out pretty nice. should have pics of the work I have been doing lately.
