Ok, maybe I put my question in the wrong catogory. So what Iam asking is if anyone out there knows of a chevy luv competing in a major off road competion? I have spoted a couple of you luv owners whom have converted them into rock crawlers, and I would really like to get information to convert mine into a rig that will do the Rubicon trail. I realize that I may have to make significant changes to the rig and just looking towards you die hard LUV owners for advice and recomendations. I will greatly appreciate all advice given, except for the one whom thinks Iam crazy, because I already know that one.
For those of you who are not familar with the Rubigun, check out:

Have a great day!!!!!

It really wouldnt take a whole lot to make a 4x4 LUV 'con ready. Its small size and light weight give it a good starting point. 100" wheelbase is ideal for offroading, Id say atleast 33" tires, lots of sheet metal cutting, a locked rear end, and geared way down axles or a double tcase(like im planning) would be the bare minimum.

ALthough im just beggining and on a tight budget, you can follow my 4x4 build thread in the Projects/builds section.

Cool! I'll be keeping a eye on your project. One thing about the major runs is that they give you specifications for what is needed to make the runs. The Rubicon states, 33's, 4" lift are for sure, no full size. I owned a 79 in 80/81, with just a touch of the sawzall we ran 33's and even 38's, had a 4" lift, with a 4000 lb warn on front, tube bumbers all around. Did a WHOLE LOT of offroading around Eatonville, Wilkenson, Skate Creek, Evans Creek, Pleasent Valley, Mineral Lake, and the Bald Hills in the late 70's thru the late 80's. This was before all the gates started getting locked. That LUV took us places people will never see again unless logging. From mud holes that you couldn't see anything but the 7' whips, to snow 3' to 4' deep. I've had a few luv's since then, but now I want to build my own just for offroading! Thanks :D
