Here we go again . I spent $130 today on 1/2 " plywood to cover the windows . Got 4 cases of water . tanks full of diesel . Evacuation down here has started .

I always wondered about the mad rush for plywood every time and place this happens. Wouldn't it make sense to keep and store the plywood, marked for each window they fit? It's flat, it can't take too much room.

I've only owned this house going on 2 years . I will fit it and mark it and paint it up . New homes here come with hurricane slates already built and fitted to them . It is code now . These will permanately stay with the house .

Emergency management officials have ordered a mandatory evacuation for all of Orange and Jefferson counties effective at 6 a.m., Sunday, due to Hurricane Gustav.

I live about half a mile south of I-10 ( a main thourghfare for Florida and through Texas ) and it is bumper to bumper all lanes from the east headed west .

What are you guys waiting for, our Gov. started the evacuations Friday...

Myty , your like 4 or 5 hours north of Gulf port or N.O right ? Ya'll got hammered in the last pair and N.O. got most of the coverage . im prolly gonna stay until the last minutes , as i was in traffic 28 hours for the last one .

It's more like 2-1/2 hours. About the same distance to Memphis. looks like it's headed more your way. Ya'll stay safe and check in as soon as you can, so we don't worry ...
