 Post subject: fuel tank

i have a question. i was refueling and left my 81 2.2 diesel runing as soon as i opened the tank it seemed to idle faster maybe smother. what could this be? thanks

the only thing i can think of is maybe your tank vents are restricted by some debris. when you remove the cap it allows proper venting and the pump doesn`t have to struggle to get the fuel to the motor. next time you take it for a long drive leave the cap off and see if it runs a little better

if there in the same place as the gas models its on the side of the bed next to the filler neck there is an access panel on the inside of the bed. i don`t know if they can be cleaned or not. i `ve never had it apart. my truck is a race deal so i completely bypassed it. if you look at your filler neck under the bed you should see hoses running to it.

You would be amazed that spiders like those vent hoses to lay egss and lay webs. Just diconect the vent hoses and clean them out with a hanger or get yourself some pipe cleaners and push them through a couple of times and that should do it. Hope this helps. :)

my filter lite on my 81 2.2 diesel is on and iv chenged the filter twice already and its still on. what could i be doing wrong?

you have a bad connection or a broken wire thers not mutch else it can be.
