I finially got some time to spend on the 76 4.3 swap today. I resealed the 4.3, it had 15K from a 06 S-10, installed the intake, cleaned and painted the engine. I pulled the 200-4r trans apart, rebuilt it and painted it as well, hooked up the lock up converter. The engine mounts were in the truck, hookers, so I cut them off and re welded them in for the V-6. Motor and trans is in and bolted down, with any luck I will start it on Sunday. As you can see from the pic's the stock valve covers are fugly, I am looking at a set of custom ones.

It's completly stock long block. It has a 3.50 rear gear and a overdrive trans for the freeway. I do have a 75 shot of NOS for it to help it along. I have no clue of the HP numbers, hey its a "girls car" anyway LOL.

Hey Tilted, are you sure there is a engine in that truck of yours? It is cluttered, Chevy needs to clean up that area.

Just for future reference, how does someone find a 4.3 Vortec and what should they expect to pay for one?

I found mine locally here on Craigslist, it was in a Toyota Landcruiser, the owner wanted a small block and pulled the motor. It was advertised at 15K miles and after inspection, pulled bearing's to plastigauge I believe them. I paid $350.00 for the motor and gave him a extra $100.00 for the intake and carb.

I got a 4.3 Vortec that is in a 93 S-10 Blazer that I would sell. Has alot of miles but runs good.

Know some one that fabs sheet metal? Stainless or Aluminum? Paint the Vortec script. We used to do that on valve covers that said chevrolet or corvette. Orange with white lettering. OLD SCHOOL.

It could be sand casted in aluminum.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
