I'm having this crazy thought go thru my head now that i have a dragster, I'm thinking about pulling the tunnel rammed 12 to 1 small block, turbo 400, and narrowed 9 inch out of my truck and going with a 12A rotary,5 speed and stock luv rear end and actually daily driving the truck again.....any thoughts?

Whate wrong with using a 13B as it's bigger.

Nothing,I have one of each as a matter of fact. The 13b is bone stock from the fan to the 4 speed tranny, the 12a has a new aluminum flywheel,a header, and a aftermarket intake with a 465cfm holley 4bbl.It also is still bolted to a 5 speed tranny.I ran this setup in one of my rx7's for auto-x,hillclimbs,and as a daily driver:)I had a s-10 7 or 8 yrs ago i put a ported 12a in and it was fun, right up until I had the carb stud locking nut drop down and go thru the rear rotor at 5000 rpm!!Swapped it out with a 305 and powerglide. The way the 12a sits i think it probably makes around 160-180 hp which is alot less than the motor it will replace, but it will be alot more driving friendly

It looks like a great idea. You have a LUV that does not get out much, so you add the other engine/trans and make a daily driver out of it with good mileage, go for it.

They did make a Mazda Pickup with a rotary engine in it. I always thought it was a neat little truck. I thought the fender flares looked good. It was a RPO or something like that. I did drive a early rotary car that I thought was a blast to drive. I think the rotary is a hard swap in some things. It is something, size, oil pan or?? Or they were making a 3 rotor engine and it was one of those things. One of those senior moments.

Do it!!!

Yea less HP but also about 1/3 the weight as if i remember right the rotory is about 140 pounds so not only would it go but it sure would suprise more than one Mustang or Camaro in the corners so go for it  Talk about a class act sleeper :smt023

Actually the rotary motors are pretty heavy when they are ready to run,I think i will only lose about 100-150 pounds off the front, but i will be able to unbolt the 300 pounds of lead that lives where the spare tire used to be :)
