Hey guys I have a 1979 chevy luv ive owned for 10 years and I absolutely love it. Besides the headers and a weber carb its completely stock..... now what I need help with is generally when I get it up and between 70-80 mph it builds up pressure and starts spitting the oil out of the dip stick and I think it is also spitting it out of the oil fill cap cause it keeps pooling oil on top of the valve cover...... I have removed the valve cover and cleaned it I also checked the breather hose that goes to the carb its clear and I also checked the vacuum hose that goes into the valve cover its got plenty of suction...... what do I do?????? Please help....

Jerry

Make sure you dont have too much oil in the engine. If the oil level is correct you may have too much blow-by

8O With the 4 speed? You're braver than I am... :smt073

As already mentioned, maybe you've overfilled the oil. Usually the 3rd reading is accurate, there are threads here on this subject. Something about pressure in the crankcase and the shape/location of the dipstick tube...

Purchase an oil catch tank for starters, and if you haven't already - switch to a 5 speed and better geared rear end (preferably out of a newer mid to late eighties Isuzu Pup because they are stronger). G series engines won't self destruct from revving them too much - but they will blow by oil if you do it constantly.

Even my Impulse 1.9 G200z engine I'm running that was designed as a high compression engine from the Isuzu factory does it somewhat if I run it too hard in the higher rpms a lot. Which I do...a lot.
