I was looking at weber 32/36 carbs on ebay and was wondering if I I could just get a used one then buy the linkage kit and adaptor kit seperately. I see used 32/36 carbs have gone for less than $100. One seller has the manifold adaptor kit for $35, then I could get a linkage kit somewhere.

My question is if the 32/36 carbs are the same and just the kits to hook them up are different? Just thinking I could peice together the stuff with a used carb for less.

I bought 2 of them over the past couple of months and both of them had the adapter plates and one of them had the linkage. I had to take apart and clean both of them but one of them had good enough gaskets to put back together. With either set up I would have gotten away with only having to buy either a kit or linkage but not both. So you may get lucky and not have to buy a whole lot to get one to work. If you watch this site to try to fine one, the odds may be in your favor to get the adapter or linkage or both since usually they have come off a LUV to begin with.

Most people just use their old stock carb's linkage or make one out of a bent piece of flat stock.

Once you bolt it on...it's pretty simple to see what you need to make to get it to work. All you need is a vise to bend the metal to the angle you need, a drill to make any holes necessary, and a hacksaw to make a slot for the throttle cable to go through so you can hook it all up.

This is true. Even if you spend the money on a linkage kit they need to be modified if you don't want to cut off your slug at the end of the cable.
