ok so long story short someone told me i took a short cut and changed the gasket without removing the engine, i have a 80 sport 4x4. well in doing so i had to disconect the clutch cable at the end. well going to start it today it wouldnt start and the clutch cable is now so loose. i did the adjustment that it says in my manual BUT... its just not helping it moving the cover over the cable but not tighting the actual cable at all. any ideas what i can do? did i compleatly screw it up and now i have to take it to a shop or is there another trick thats not in my manual for when stubern people try to take short cuts and screw thing up.

The clutch cable adjustment works completely by changing the length of the cable jacket. If the jacket is in effect longer, the cable gets tighter. Both ends of the cable jacket should be fixed so they can't move or this doesn't work though. Make sure you got the end of the cable jacket in the right spot on the botton end. It should go through a hole that keeps it from sliding around.
