I just bought a 1979 luv and I have it at a mechanics. It seems to be taking forever to get parts. Any suggestions. Are these trucks worth it?

Thanks for your help

Most of us here think they are worth it. What parts do you need, we, as a group, know where to find most anything for these.

thanks for the quick reply luvrv8. Right now my mechanic is redoing the front end but I have a feeling that I will best suit myself in the future by learning to work on it myself. do you have any favorite sites for parts in general?

Front end parts are tuff. I am not sure how much napa still make/sell or parts america for that fact. Allways keep an eye out on E-Bay.

Welcome to the forum!

Do you know what specific parts you need?
I have a '80 Luv 4x4. I have saved a lot of my reciepts and can get napa part #'s.
I went through a bunch parts on my front end.
Also I've been able to find more parts on the Napa website vs my local Napa store.

You can get stuff like ball joings and tie rod ends pretty easy.
Here's a link besides the napa that I like:

If you are looking for help and info on the LUV then you are at the right place. I will say that these trucks do need some TLC and are basically somewhat simple to repair. You would save a ton of money if you repaired what you could at home.

Try http://car-part.com/ for wrecking yards in your area. If you can, it might be good to get a whole second truck just for parts. Welcome to the site for all you need to know about a LUV. And then some.
