Hello, I just picked up a 1980 4x4. After doing some reading on the $50 paint job, I'm going to give it a try, I certainly cant make this truck look any worse :)

What is the best way to remove the original 4x4 and stripe decals? I thought about 60 grit sandpaper, but it just seems like there has got to be a better way, maybe a solvent or something? A forum search didn't produce any results. Any ideas?

what i found really good for my decals is to put nail polish remover in it then hit it with a heat gun or blow dryer and it pealls right up... well it did for me

I used one of those pin strip erasers on mine it took awhile but did a good job taking them off. You can get one at harbor house or just about any online auto body site. I'd like to have a set of decals to put back on after I paint mine I think they really look on the trucks.

ok you can use the oven cleaner that's
not needing heat. And I have used paint
aircraft stripper eats the hair off a walrus
azz.
