Here is a great build up of a bagged luv that ended up in MiniTruckin this month.
http://forums.luvtruck.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12675&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Also go here for alot of info http://www.luvtruck.com/Information.htm

and use the search button , I dont think there is anything done to a LUV that has not been discussed here before.

such as http://forums.luvtruck.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8851&start=20&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=torsion+bars+lowering+torsion+bar

lowering is not that hard wth lowering the torsion bars up front and blocks in the back.

Just ask about anything and I am sure someone will answer or find a previous post.

Good Luck

Welcome! My first car was a Luv at 18 (it was a '80 2wd Long bed).
You can post what parts you need in the classfied section of the forum.
For your window, do you just need the glass, or the whole mechansim?
If just the glass, it wouldn't be that much at a glass shop.

For your V8 conversion, I'd check out the Drivetrain part of the forum. Those guys have a lot of different combonations of motors, transmissions, and rear ends.

They are great trucks, but they are like wolves-they feel they owe you nothing. EVen if you feed and care for them.

Anyway, I know of a kid, 17, who has a fullsize Chevy truck w/ 350, auto, camper special (Tall gearing). I told him it is going to hurt at the pump, but he said he didn't care, gas prices were of no consequence to him.

Welllll guess what-he has to put 5 gallons in it just to get it out of the yard.

I am sure you will love your LUV :)

Well kid welcome to this site and get yourself a manual. It's going to have a lot of relevant information that you're going to want. I have the Chevrolet manual Series 8 for my '78. Your '79 and my "78 are very closely related, in that the body shape and headlight configuration as well as the engine components are identical. I consider it the coolest model of all the Luv years. Get on here for any help you need. Mine is all stock except for the carb and ignition.

Don't let anybody drive it.

Quick FYI, if you search here a bit, you'll find that a straight front bumper is a pretty rare find. I think a member here recently paid over $400 for one.

If you find a good one at a pick-a-part, snag it!

Good luck with your truck, and welcome to the site. 8)
