As many of you know I was able to swing a deal for Ben's truck without the motor and trans. I have decided to install a 4.3 motor with a 2004r trans, coupled to the 9 inch with 3.50 gears and a tru-trac posi unit. I am building this for freeway driving and cruising around town as my wife's hot rod. If all goes as planned it should be running on the streets by mid July and complete with paint/interior by the first of the year. Here are some pic's of where I am at now.

The stepside bed is being stored in the back of the 78 right now.(as you can see stepsides are shorter)

4.3 and trans getting ready to drop in after I rebuild the trans

I offered her my 406 from my truck and she was going along with the plan, well until she figured out I was going to build a 454 small block for it's replacement. We talked about it and comprimised and went her way (married too long I guess, I gave in too early)

I thought all you got was the bed! Congratulation's. I hope Ben can get another one if he wants too.
I just found his personal web site a few weeks ago.

It's hard to say that, so me and the wife still call it Ben's truck.

The white truck is ladder bars, Ben's old truck(the gray one) is leaf springs.

I got the stock gauge pack in and working, I have the 4.3 and 2004r trans in and bolted down, mounts welded off. I have the stepside bed bolted on. I welded back in mounts for a stock gas tank and installed a tank. I am waiting on my new intake/carb from Jegs and my new HEI dist. I will post pic's over the weekend. Getting close to running it.
