my under carriage is very rusty. is there anything I can do to slow this down? I only want to use this truck to drive to work, so I don't really want to dump alot of money into it.

I've been thinking of buying a gallon of Hirsch Miracle Rust Remover and Metal Prep and spraying it on with a garden sprayer. Brushing it on some spots. They also have a clear paint.

All you need to do is create a few oil leaks and your golden
Seriously though, just spray everything down with a rust inhibitor. Even WD40 will slow down rust, only problem is it will evaporte and get washed off easier than actual rust inhibitor. You could also even smear rust with axle grease...

I was looking around about some old stuff, and found this. It is a POR15 alternative, less expensive too. A lot of people have had great results with it. I have not used it, but people I respect have.

I just treated my truck with the ospo this weekend. It was like $22 a gal at ace. Just use a spray bottle. Going to use what is left and do the bed real good then herculine the bed.

The Ospho stuff works great. It does take longer han 24 hrs to fully react. I wish I had taken a photo before of my rusty bed, but the stuff pretty much killed all the rust/orange and turned it into hard black and sealed. I'll post a before/after when I get the bed liner done. Well worth it. A guy at work was pretty impressed.

The bed liner stuff looks real nice. I did mine. The fiberglass liner just wasn't cutting it. I'll have to put some pics up. I didn't even think about rust inhibitor. I just wire brushed it until all the rust was gone. Took two days.

I just finished spraying mine with the cans from wal-mart.

I wish I had a before picture, but it was white and rust. Sat for 5 years, the good thing is it had a camper shell on it for some time before. Used ospo, then 3m scour pad thing on my drill.

It looks nice for a home made job.
