Hi,

I am trying to figure out some information about the Chev LUV door latches.
When I built my '32 Ford Hotrod Pickup, I used some Chev LUV door latches in it. (At the time it seemed like a good idea!)

Anyway, one of them (the RHS) is now worn out and it rattles and clunks. As far as I can remember, these latches came from what you call the Second-Generation LUV (1981-1982). I am here in Australia; and I am told that these are similar to the early 'KB' Rodeo and they may even share the same doors. I am pretty sure the earlier ones were marketed here simply as IZUZU utilities.

So, can anybody tell me whether the first and second generation shared the same latches; and if they are available anywhere. I thought I might get a passenger side one over there pretty easily, and as it is your offside, they should be in relatively good condition. Any leads would be appreciated.

First and 2nd gen Luvs use different latches, 2nd gen Luvs are called Holden Rodeos in Australia. The latches out of 81 to 86 Holden Rodeos will suit your needs.

Thanks for that advice.

It was so long ago that I can't remember even what the donor looked like. However; I do know it was branded LUV, not Rodeo, and it had the Chevrolet scripted tailgate. By the sound of it; it must have been first generation.

I will try to find a 81 to 86 Holden Rodeo and see if the latches are the same.

Did the IZUZU pickup share the same doors with the first gen LUV?

After 5 posts, you should be able to add a photo. That would be helpful if you haven't determined which series it came off of yet...

First gen Luvs were imported in to Australia badged as Chevy luvs up till i think 78, after 78 till 1980 they were badged as KB ISUZU's (not rodeo) Then from 81 the 2nd gen's were badged in Aus as Holden Rodeo's.
Heres some pics of first gen Luv latches
