OK so I have gone through 3 or 4 oil pan gaskets, now. I have heard everything from snug to finger tight +1/4 turn. I need an EXACT torque figure-the manual only seems to list them for the FIRST generation Isuzu LUV motor. Dare I assume it is the same as the 11th gen?

usually you want to tighten them down untill the gasket just starts to smoosh out.
the speck my book gives is 43 in-lbs.

My truck has been giving me fits, I have replaced 3 pan gaskets and the last one had enough gasket sealer on it it should have stuck for ever. It seems to be leaking on the pan where the oil filter screws on. Well I can't get my big fat head close enough to really see so I guess I'll pull the sob and try to locate the leak for sure.

You need to tighten it down evenly. That's why you watch the gasket, and don't smoosh it out more in any one place. Also, tighten it down like you do a cylinder head, in a staggered sequence.
