alright heres the problem, i just finished putting my rebuilt tranny back in, but i had to take the engine out to do it. When i hooked everything back up and tried to start it, it would crank but not fire. I double checked everything and everything looked like it was hooked up fine. Anybody have any suggestions?

Start from the begining, check spark and fuel.

Did you put the ground wire back on the engine?

alright i checked and it doesnt look like theres any spark at the spark plug so im getting a new set of points, and i made sure the battery and the ground were hooked up right, i am also in the process of getting another fuse box because we had some problems with it before so hopefully it works

What about the fuses? I had one blow out on me when I was doing 65 going uphill on Hwy.18, just before I-5. I thought it was the electronic distributor. My sister-in-law towed me all the way back home with a 20-foot yellow tow strap I carry around. I let it sit a week while I had the flu, and then the day I went to check it out we found it was a fuse!! So I replaced the fuse, and it would blow out any time I drove over 60 mph. I then replaced the alternator and have no more problems. It's the process of elimination. I don't mean the bowels.

i replaced all the fuses just in case, and i used a tester and found out that theres no juice to the coil, so im thinking when i took the engine out something didnt get hooked up right, im going to recheck all my connections for a fourth time just to be sure. There was a solid yellow wire that i found though that had power to it, it had an end on it that looked like it should just plug into something but it was all greasy. :?

Do you have a fusible link off the positive battery terminal? Check that for continuity. I hope you didn't forget to put the ignition rotor in.
