... but it gets even better. After replacing the fuse, I checked the brake lights and horn once. The next day, I tried to crank it up, and it cranks fine, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas, it dies. I can keep my foot on the gas for as long as I want, but the GEN light stays on and it dies soon as I take my foot off. So I go back to the fuse, and it's blown. I replace it, and the new fuse blows as soon as it makes contact. Revealing my true genius, I tried again. Same result. Same result on the next 4 fuses. Now, none of the blinkers, nor the horn or break work. Headlights, tail lights, etc work fine.

I can't help thinking that this problem wiht the fuse is connected to the GEN light of death and the choking down thing. Anybody out there run up on something like this before? The truck is an '80 2wd. Please tell me I'm not looking at rewiring anything. Please...

The solution to most electrical problems in these trucks is solved with a crest feather from the Northern California Golden Crested Snipe. If you can capture one and place the crown feather in the fuse slot, all of your electrical woes will disappear.

Just kidding...

Here's a good place to start..http://www.luvtruck.com/PDF/Series9&10.pdf Clean the connections in the fuse box (top and bottom), check your grounds, and let us know what you find.

Thanks! I'll see what I can find. I've cleaned the terminals, but I haven't really dug too deep yet.

check under your dash and see if you see any wires outa place i have had wiring issues before, and it seems to me that mabye your harness that runs into the flasker units, blinker switch, hazard lights and head lights its gotta be a short in there some where and be carefull they all run through the same circuitry, if you remove one component then the others wont work.. i know its a headache but if you can figure it out with the wiring diagram then you should be set..

good luck

Actually it would be the feather from a bald eagle. No I wouldn't hurt one.

If you look around the horn you might find a loose wire. Check the whole fuse block and make sure it's not cracked or broken. Make sure you put all the wires back correctly.
