I own a 1980 Chevy Luv and it has been causing some extreme issues this past week. When I start the truck up it is fine. Then after I drive it for a while it does not want to get over 60. It seems to just some power somewhere. Today it started a new thing and it completely stopped pumping fuel into the carb. So i checked the connection and it was not connected. So I did a quick repair and it ran fine for about 3 min. then it did the same thing. The idle got really slow and it sounded like the truck turned off but it was still on even though you could hardly hear the engine running. It also stalled a few times. But when I started it back up it ran fine for a few seconds. Idle was normal, it was smooth and hummin smooth and perfect. Then I tried to drive it again and it drove ggod for about 1 min. then same thing happend and it stalled out. Could this be the problem of a bad relay for my fuel pump? And by the way all of the emissions is riped out of it and I have been driving for a year without this problem.

Thanks,
Nick

If it is the Fuel Pump relay does anyone know if Autozone or Advance can order it for me or is it going to be a hard to find part.

I assume you've tried changing both fuel filters (the one in the engine compartment, and the one under the truck by the fuel pump).

If it's the relay, someone here posted a thread about replacing it with a standard $6 relay from any auto parts store. Search the site and I think you'll find it.

It could also be the fuel pump itself. I've had the fuel pump go 'weak', where it wouldn't pump if I was headed up hill.
