They usually are a working or not sort of thing. When the relay is not working, you might get it to fire up for a bit, as there is a bypass to run the fuel pump while the key is at start, but it will die soon after starting up. (after you let the key go to run instead of start) The pump will run while you are cranking it over, then stop once you let up from start. It will get some fuel into the bowl of the carb, so the truck will run for a little while until that runs out. I think I was able to let it idle for somewhere between 1-2 minutes on what gas was in a full carb bowl.
I guess my question is what symptoms are you getting? Bad points can mimick the symptoms of low fuel flow like dying off at sustained higher RPMs.
