Pretty sure its longest to shortest.
Left and right will look the same they can go wither side they only have a front and rear.

You will need to replace the centre bolt in the spring. Its pretty important. It keeps the pack together and also gives the diff something to locate on to stop it sliding back wards and forwards.

You can use a cap head screw. Thats a bolt with a round head with a hole in the top for an allen key to go in.

Cheers, Bob.

Thank You for the response.

That is why the spring came apart then, there was not a bolt in either side, so when I started unbolting the u-bolts they started to come apart on both sides. And I noticed that the spring perches on the axle had been bent up in the front, so there is not telling how long it has been that way. The reaerend was dead when I bought the truck and so that is probably what happened. Does the bolt need a nut on the bottom?

If i remember right thats the way it works.

A round head at the top to locate in the bracket that is welded under the axle tube.
And in the lower plate there is a bit more clearance, enough room for a nut.

I would say you will need a metric sized bolt. Possibly 8mm but i could not tell you the length. A place that reconditions and resets springs should carry the exact right bolt in stock. If not a bolt shop that carrys a good range. Might pay to smear some of that good copper whatever type never seize grease on the bolt when you fit it. Especially if all you can get is a 'black' cap head screw as these will rust. A stainless steel version would probably not be a silly idea.

Dont forget to re-tension your U-bolts after a few hundred miles. Those suckers all ways settle in a bit.

Cheers, Bob.

Thank , that will help alot. The problem was everytime I put tension on the spring with a floor jack the springs would shift and get out of align.

Also thanks for the advice, that is something I did not know.

And i would also check them again after that, the next time you change the oil or service the truck perhaps.

Are you reusing the old U-bolts??? Or do you have new ones??

Some of the new ones you get are a pretty crap grade steel.
If your reusing the old ones be sure and lube the thread up well, it will make the nuts go back on easier.

I have new U-bolts I am installing with 3" lowering blocks and they have nylon locking nuts. It is a belltech set of lowering blocks.

If its anything like the kits we get here the bolts will be a little suspect.

Are they a coarse thread or are they fine like the ones that were on the Luv.

There is no real need for any form of locking as far as the nut goes. Once they are tight and checked a few times after settling in they should never come undone.

Having said that you will probably never have any trouble with them.
