I got the bumper the other day. Although its not perfect, it is a good piece. There are a few imperfection that can easily be fixed with body filler and since they are the only ones that make a front bumper for the LUV, I'm not complaining.

Well I finally got around to installing the fiber glass front bumper. It weights in at under 5 lbs with brackets and only took a little bondo and sanding to repair the minor imperfections. I mounted it up tight against the lower valance so it would be sturdy and used a small piece of rubber to prevent the backet from scuffing the valance.

Mounting brackets 1" pipe weled to radiator support

Bumper with 3/4" OD pipe brackets welded to .090: sheet metal.

Close up when mounted....note rubber bumper up agains lower valance.

The stacks are nothing more than 2 polished stainless steel muffler, turnout and band clamp. Everything is 3" All of which I got from JEGS.com You can drop a beer can through them, plus its no too loud and I haven't been stopped yet.

Here's some more pics of the interior. Some are posted else where on this site but I've been asked more than once so I'm going to put them all here. Another good place to look to get some ideas on alm. interiors is to check out Ebay and search "drag cars"...thats what I did.

All it take is a lot of time, tons of cardboard and two $60 sheets of aluminum .040" thick. The area under the drivers and passagers feet is .100" thick (two old stop signs). I have a cheap bead roller and some sheet metal hand tools from Home Depot....no big fancy break. It's the second car I did and I'm by no means a sheet metal worker.

Mustang-II type front/coil overs with a pinto rack. Unequall length 4 link with coil overs in the rear. The suspension, roll cage and the paint was done before I bought it.

Just a quick update in case anyone's interested.

I finally got the LUV to the strip. I was hoping for a low 13 or maybe a high twelve.....and wouldn't you know off the trailer it ran a 12.004 @112. The wheather cooled down and it slowed to 12.054 so I jetted from 66s to 68s/69s (only have two of each) It then dropped to 11.85. As luck would have it, rain showers ended the day at this point. I was more than a little suprised at how well it handled and ran first time out concidering I'm running with a near stock 454....its tough to beat a 2650 lb BBC truck though. Although I was a little disappointed when the gal at the time slip booth LOL "My, is that the cutest little thing". The truck sure did get a lot of second takes and I can't count the number of times I was asked if it was a Datsun........guess I'll have to get some Chevy Luv Stickers.

Here's the facts

Track: Brainerd International Raceway "Show and Go"
Weight: 2650 lb in street trim (muffers, passager seat, DOT slicks + one fat guy)
Motor: (out of my boat) 9.1 compression 454 steel oval port heads, Headers, Street Tunnel ram with Daul 650s on 91 octane rev limiter @ 5800rpm and hydralic cam.
Trans: TH350 with Hypster Trans Brake, and JEGS 9" converter
Rear: 9" Ford, spool, 3.70 gear
Tire: 29 X 14.5 X 15 Hoosiers Street Slicks.

Winter plans are to return the motor to its rightful owner and build something more race than street.

Just a quick update:

I now have a "Certified LUV for Racing". The truck passed its NHRA chassis certification this week. It's now legal to 8.50. The boat motor has been pulled for a 461BBC more fit for racing. While it won't make it into 8's (unless I spray it). It should break into the 9's.
