I was wondering if anyone here knew of a good ratio to get a good amount of pep outa my LUV I absolutely hate how little balls the stock 4-speed/rear-end give, I would like to keep the 6 lug chevy bolt pattern since i have grown quite fond of my wheels...

thanks in advance

The ratio thats in it is the best compromise between performance and economy. Thats what the factory spent the big bucks on.

4.55 is about as low as you will find.
If you lived down under you could pull a 5 point something diff out of a van buy you guys didnt get them.

It would be easier to make the motor go better.

so basically i will have to just beef up my motor for the best pep instead of just getting a different rear-end? I got access to a 5-speed out of an Rx-7 that has a really nice rearing in it it just rips through the gears up till 5th then its just a good cruising gear, i wouldnt mind the work to make the bolt pattern but i think that the cost/work involved in making it work might outweigh the benifits of the conversion... anyway thanks for your help/advice

maybe you should look at a 5spd from a later model pup for the interchangeability and the extra gear.... there are some folks on here that can fill you in on what the gearing in those are and it should be a fairly simple swap

Yeah i ahve been looking into geting that info, it just seemed to me that the impulse tranny might be an option because of the gearing in it is set for a car and i like car trannys versus a truck tranny, and i understand that the rear-end ratio is gonna be a huge factor... Ill just keep on looking, im sure ill find something, i sent 800xl a message and hopefully he can fill me in since he seems to be the Isuzu guru
